Iconemia as pedagogy in the AI-era animation studio.
How do we teach image-making to students whose relationship to images has already been reconfigured by algorithmic media? Drawing on Simondon, Stiegler, Flusser, and Friston, this paper traces the translation of iconemia from research-creation theory into pedagogical practice across an animation curriculum — anchored in the case of The First Image of the World (2024).
